A wood sports surface is the premium product for a gymnasium. But chairs and tables, high heels, and dirty shoes can dramatically shorten the life of an expensive wood surface. Concrete surfaces are extremely durable, but lack warmth and are brutal surfaces for athletic activities.
Mondo flooring was used to remodel an existing wood sport surface to provide an attractive, state-of-the art athletic facility. The challenge was the existing gym floor was covered with an old, toxic urethane floor. Removing the urethane would have required a hugely expensive hazardous material disposal project.
The solution was to have Mondo's 10mm Sport Impact glued over Mondo's Everlay which was loose laid over the existing poured urethane floor. This technique encapsulates the toxic urethane surface without bonding to it enabling the owner to dispose of either the Mondo wood sport surface or both at a much later date.
